The Western States Trail Foundation continues to solicit donations to fund preservation of the route used by Paiute and Washoe Indians, miners, and more recently historians and trail users (by foot and horseback).  Portions of the Western States/Tevis Trail are currently at risk by incompatible users, development interests, ongoing maintenance needs, costs working with government agencies, procurement of easements etc.  The very fact that this Trail exists in our back yard serves to create and protect other nearby trails, and provides interest to live here.  To learn more, refer to the Western States Endowment Fund,  The Trail represents so much more than an endurance ride or ultra-run; it’s a very personal part of our heritage.
